The People of I Town

They came from all across the war ravaged and devastated country. Not wealthy enough to by shares in the consumer society of Fluxton, they were overjoyed to forme the new blue-collar society of I Town, I Town was a safe place to live and walking on that first treadwheel to generate electricity was a reliable source of income. They gladly settled at the site where scavenged building materials from the apocalyptic ruins of the Carbon Nation were being recycled into the infrastructure of I Town. As news spread of the wonderful new world Burgess and Faraday were building, the influx increased. Trintico built more treadwheels and brought more wealthy shareholders to Fluxton to live comfortably and buy the electricity from I Town.

As demand increased, walkers who were bigger were encouraged to walk higher on the wheel where their weight would produce more power, and make more money. The society of I Town quickly began to polarize, the bigger walkers able to eat more and grow even bigger while the smaller ones lost their places on the wheels and had to look for other sources of income.
